CD drive doesn't work right

I asked this question before but the answer I got didn't quite do it.  Here it is: Most of the times I try to use my cd drive it doesn't work.  Either the light on the cd drive goes on and it locks the computer, or the light stays off and the system thinks there is no cd in the drive.  When you try to take the cd out by pressing the button nothing happens.  One more thing - when the light doesn't go on I know the cd is turning because when you finally get the cd out after pressing the button a million times it's in a different position than when I put it in.  Also I think it's nothing to do with the software.

Well your cd-rom is bad or dirty there is lots of dust in the air and and most of it gets in your computer when you open your computer you will see it on power supply cpu fan and lot of dust also go to cd-rom floppy. Remove your cd-rom open it, before you do this buy can of air, clean from all dust you see clean laser if this doesn't help you need to buy new cd-rom
