#Error: Issuer certificate is invalid (-8156)

I receive an error statement when trying to access certain sites;
"Java reported the following error on startup:  java.lang.SecurityException:  systemclasses were not signed."
"jar file: C\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\java\classes\java40.jar"
"jar file: C\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\java\classes\ifc11.jar"
The title to my question was also in the error statement....

I purchased a new certificate from Verisign so that I could encrypt email when necessary.  Ever since I installed the new certificate I receive this error.  Have tried reinstalling Netscape Communicator 4.04.  No success yet getting it to work.

Hoping for some assistance.  Have been here before and have received great help...

To percyn:
How do I resign the applet?  Also how would I turn off the security check in Communicator?
I've never messed with this part of Communicator.  I forgot to tell you I am running Windows95.  Don't know if this makes a difference or not.

Percyn,
I finally figured out myself how to get rid of my problem with the java script error.  I waited a couple days, but needed to get this resolved.  That's why I graded a C, slow response.

This is what I did:
With Netscape closed, I opened Windows Explorer and went to my ...\Netscape\Users\{username} directory and renamed cert7.db and key3.db to cert7.bad and key3.bad respectively.  I restarted Netscaped to see if it was fixed.  I then Imported my certificate from the directory in which I stored it.

Everything works like it's supposed to now.

Sorry,
I had "unchecked" the "email notification" box.
Oh,
The reason I did that was because I get about 20-50 messages from Experts-Exchange WITH THE BOX UNCHECKED !!! If I left it checked, I would get between 200-500 messages a DAY ;-)

Ok, I understand.  Even without subscribing to areas of interest on the Net, I get JUNK mail in my Inbox every day.  I know how frustrating a pile of JUNK mail can be, so if you get "MANY" messages from your normal contacts it can keep you reading all day with little time left for anything else.
Apologies for being somewhat "growly", just my nature I guess -- remember, my User Name is  doberman.

Thanks again
