Go to find...files or folders... do a search on wsock32.dll
-the only one that should be there is 1 wsock32.dll 65kb in size in the c:\windows\system only

-rename all other ones to wsock32.sav

-if you cannot rename the wsock32.dll because it says it is in use, reboot in msdos mode and go to the directory where the wsock32.dll is located and type "ren wsock32.dll wsock32.dll" (without quotes)

IF there is the correct wsock32.dll in the c:\windows\system it might be corrupt

-put you Windows 95 CD
-reboot in msdos mode
-type D: (D is your cd rom drive letter) and hit enter

-if you do not have your win95 cd, you might have the cab files in the c:\windows\options\cabs, if this is true, replace D:\WIN95 with C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS with all following instructions

-type "cd win95" (without quotes)
-type C: and hit enter
-type cd\windows\system (or just "cd system" at c:\windows>)
-you should now be at c:\windows\system>
-type "ren wsock32.dll wsock32.sav" and hit enter
-type D: and hit enter
-type the extract command to extract the wsock32.dll, you should be at D:\WIN95>

Here is the command:

extract /a win95_02.cab wsock32.dll /l c:\windows\system

This will scroll through the cab files and extract the wsock32.dll and put it into c:\windows\system

-type exit and hit enter

The idea is to get only 1 file, wsock32.dll, which is 65kb in size, into the c:\windows\system directory
