What is your problem? Our company use toast for MAC for burning CD and we don't need a separate cdrom. What to you want to burn? If you want to copy a CD write the contents of the CD on the HD (You should be able to mount you burner as a normal CD-drive) and burn the contents back to a writeable CD. So you need no external CD-drive.
