Animation of gif image is not trevial. You need Animated gif MCI handler if you want to use MCI. Windows and MFC allows AVI movie to be played via animate common control or MFC CAnimateCtrl wrapper class. MPEG movie can be played using ActiveMovie. What you can do is to create WebBrowser control set it HTML page containing nothing but Animated GIF and play it by such a way.
