MS Outlook for PowerMac/OS8+

I need help, I'm running around confused trying to find out if there is an actual MS Outlook for PowerMacs. We've talked to Microsoft, who says it's contained with MS Exchange 5.5, but it is not compatible with OS8 or 8.1, only 7.5. is this true? I've heard from others that there is an Outlook (NOT OUTLOOK EXPRESS) for Powermacs and it's either still in beta-testing or soon to be released. I tried searching the Microsoft web-site, but can't come up with any answers to whether there is a Mac "Outlook"(compatible with OS8.1) similar to the just released "Outlook 98" for windows.....help!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Thanx for the answer Imar. Microsoft actually came back and said that it is known to work only that it is not supported. I'd appreciate any additional comments you might have regarding any conflicts and/or performance/compatability issues.

It's not as fast as the client for the 95 machines, but it's not bad.  Like everything else MS offers for the Mac, it's a ported windows version, so it's got a bunch of extra code in it slowing it down.  It does woek well though, we use it on a number of Macs w/o problems (as well as the exchange client for the Macs)
