defrag

Hi. when i start to defrag . the defrag says drive contents changing-restarting. it might do this a couple of times. i have been having trouble shutting down unless i defrag. thanks for your help

Before starting defrag, you should close any programs which write to the disk. In fact, you should probably close all other open programs, since they may use virtual memory, causing Windows95 to write to the swap file on disk.
Every time another application writes to the disk, defrag must start over to make sure no new errors have occurred on that disk.

As long as no other programs are writing to the disk, you should be able to run defrag in one pass.

Be sure that you have no networking in progress !!! Because if someone access to your computer the hard disk will change and  it will give that error to
