I have installed several remote printers. These printers are connected to an Axis print server each. But the problem is that sometimes the printer got disabled and all the print jobs are stuck in the queue. By enabling back the printer, all print jobs are out. Can anyone advise me on what circumstances/reasons does a printer get disabled?

It depend on your print server. Usually the print queue gets disabled when
whatever problem appears on the printer (offline, no paper, paper jam, etc.)
This can be a real pain in some circumstances. I've written scripts in
the past who will run every 10 minutes and enable all disabled printers...

P.S. I use AXIS print servers and they are generally OK.

I have experienced this problem with Axis PS and I've solved it by changing to ftp protocol instead of lpd. This is quite easy to do: simply choose "ftp" when running axinstall. When prompted by print-server name, answer its IP host name or IP address and when prompted by logical printer number, enter 1 or 2 depending on what is the parallel port where printer is attached (3: serial port).
