i'm looking for a 3D editor

it must be capable of creating objects usable by DirectX

it should be simple to use and must have a demo
or preferably a trial version (downloadable)

i dont want an expensive system as my needs are very
limited

check out trueSpace!  they have a demo and direct x support
not sure if you can save anything with the demo though..
truespace is only $495 or you can ask about an acedmic pricing which is around $299 i believe

You can try Imagine 4, a DOS based 3D program. You also can find a lot of tutorials about using it on the net.
