How do I troubeshoot my program when it compiles, starts to run, then I get a GPF and have to kick out???

just build it don't run it.
this will give you a list of errors
if you have fixed all those and it still does it
in MSVC++ you can run till cursor
do that near the begginning see if it crashes
you could also step through till it hangs
