colors?

I'm in the process of making a site but i'm really stuck on what kind of colors i should use.  I've tried many different combinations and none of them seem to satisfy me.  My site has 3 colums and 2 rows.  One row is at the top like a header to all the pages that will contain an image to go with the site.  The first column has a dhtml script that looks like windows explorer with folders and stuff.  The middle column is were the text will be, and the right side column is for a quick reference column which will be colored.  I'm looking for a two or three color combination for the site.  So basically all i want is advice.  Oh yeah, this site is about ice hockey.

Red, white, and blue. Ffor a flashy site use saturated colors. Make sure that the text can be read. Also remember that while you may take a great deal of time to get EXACTLY the shade you want, most browsers will not reproduce it with the same exactitude.
