Can I put icons in a ComboBox / Listbox control like the disk drive / network drive section in the WIndows Explorer?  Is this a combobox / listbox combination or some other control?

You'll have to create an owner drawn combobox, which is actualy what is done in windows explorer. Include the LBS_OWNERDRAWFIXED style in it, and respond to WM_DRAWITEM messages
