IP address and sender information

Is it possible to get the e-mail message sender information if you have his IP address and how ?

1) there is no direct relationship between the ip address and the sender in almost all cases.  Consider for example the typical ISP who assigns IP addresses dybnamically each time you sign on.  This does not mean that it could not be determined but you would need the cooperation of the ISP.  For example, if you send something illegal I would presume that the FBI or whoever, would determine the IP address and then call the ISP and ask who was assigned that IP address at the time the message was seen.

2) IP address spoofing is really pretty easy and common.

3) And probably the most significant:  The powers that be, felt that the user should be protected.  This is why even in HTML where you can do a <FORM ACTION=mailto:... the browser asks whether you want to really send the eMail.
