Linking Database and Imagemap

I am new at CGI and PERL.  I have been asked to link a telephone directory from an Access database with pictures for each employee to a floor plan showing their cube locations.  I have used an image editor to develop the x,y coordinates and have the HTML code.  How do I use the CGI to link all of this so that when the Intranet user clicks on the employee name in the phone directory it goes to the database and retries the page.  How do I use the CGI to link all of this so that once on the page, the Intranet user clicks on the cube address and it goes to the floor plan location?

Not a wonderful solution but I think it will work...

In the image map you will specify the url that will be accessed when the user clicks on a particular area so you will know when you put the page together who is who. If we assume that each person has some unique identifier (or name will do) then you can pass this into the script in the URL each gothere.cgi?Bob
This will work in the opposite direction also. Or have I misunderstood?
