A file with the extension .EXE cannot be used as a screensaver. The file must have the .SCR extension. Although the .SCR files the come with Windows are normal EXE's.

The reason why the screensaver executables have a different extenmsion is that they all have the same command line features that windows knows.

Parameter

none or /S for executing the screensaver
/C for configuring
/P for previewing in the preview panel
/A for changing the password

If you change the extension to *.SCR and place the file in your windows directory. Then change the screensaver to your SCR using the properties of your Desktop. It might wortk depending on the EXE.

Oh yes. If you change the EXE's extension to SCR is doesn't become a screensaver of which you can change the setting or assing a password to. Neither will it display in the preview panel. It might just start your EXE...
