Can CEdit, CBitMap, CPen, CPallette handles messages?
Can message handler be written for this classes?

Win95/NT can send messages only to windows. In addition, MFC allow you to send messages to the thread objects and document objects (and to all objects that inherits CCmdTarget in general, if you code it).
CEdit is a wrapper for edit box window and can accept messages, while the other classes you mentioned are all simple C++ wrappers for groups of API functions operating with graphics and doesn't correspond to any window neither inherit CCmdTarget - the objects can not receive messages.

Try to understand how CCmdTarget got its name.
Reading MFC hierachy chart often to keep the genealogy of MFC family is my way of studying MFC.
