DOT Matrix Printer Slow on NT Workstation

I have a Panasonic KX-3624 24-pin dot matrix attached to an NT workstation, which is not connected to any network.  The time billing software (Timeslips) is a windows based app.  My users are telling me that it used to print faster in DOS.  The printer settings are set to Print HIGHEST PRIORITY, RAW data, print directly to printer.  The printer doesn't "print-pause, print-pause."  It is actually printing continuously, but it just takes a long time (3.5 hrs to print 120 pages).  Previously, it took 2.5 hrs for the same amount of data.  Any suggestions?  Is this an NT spooling problem?

Also, when you try to cancel a print job, even one with only two words on the page, it sometimes won't delete, or appears to "hang" while deleting.  Oftentimes, I have to reboot the computer, and even then, the job does not appear to "delete".  HEEEEELP...

NT defaults most dot matrix printers to letter quality printing.  Don't ask me why.  Check to see if that is what is happening.

Go into your app under the page setup and you should be able to adjust this setting to a lower resolution.
