how would i make a simple message board??

Hi phrost_byte,

Unless you know how to do CGI-Perl it's not simple to make but here is a URL where you can download one for free....get the zip file, just follow the instructions, you'll have to edit some of the script and make sure you chmod the files as needed, other than that thats about as simple as it gets,  Hope this helps...Good Luck :)
