'95 Cantlocate cd-rom

I am trying to install win95 on a friends 486/66mghz. The Installation went fine but in the process the cd rom dissqapeared from the sys.and It will not reinstall...have tried installing drivers from dos, 'add new hardware etc" from control panel. ....no luck..Can anyone help meuot as I'm supposed to deliver this on wednesday.
ps.....originally this sys ran 3.1 and when initially inst.w95 from the cd  there was no problem.

Hi robtbis,

Go to Control Panel/System/Device manager and check your hard disk controllers. Are they working properly or do they have circled exclamation marks over them? If they have exclamation marks on them then pay a visit to Microsoft Support Online article Q151911. (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q151/9/11.asp). Here you'll find details of how to remove the 'NOIDE' switch in your registry which should hopefully make your CD-ROM reappear (I know, I've had the same problem myself). Good luck.

Only that a note suggesting driver sites....
 (eg; ftp://www.creaf.com/pub/creative/drivers/cdrom/) might be helpful to those not used to web-searching. Thanks again for the advice...when I get the appropriate driver I'll let you know how it went......bob
