Hi robtbis,

Go to Control Panel/System/Device manager and check your hard disk controllers. Are they working properly or do they have circled exclamation marks over them? If they have exclamation marks on them then pay a visit to Microsoft Support Online article Q151911. (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q151/9/11.asp). Here you'll find details of how to remove the 'NOIDE' switch in your registry which should hopefully make your CD-ROM reappear (I know, I've had the same problem myself). Good luck.

Only that a note suggesting driver sites....
(eg; ftp://www.creaf.com/pub/creative/drivers/cdrom/) might be helpful to those not used to web-searching. Thanks again for the advice...when I get the appropriate driver I'll let you know how it went......bob
