Installing Win98

Will Win98 install over Win98 Beta3?  I have been running Beta3 since it was released to the public with no problems.  Since than, I have added many new applications and changed my settings.  I am also dual booting into Winnt4.0 now (not going to convert to fat32 until Winnt5.0).  I do not want to redo my hold box.

yes you should have no problem, with your current operating system running, put in the windows 98 disk that holds the update.  Autorun should start and sense which build of windows 98 that you are running and it will prompt you with a dialog that says something like..."the version of windows running is older than the version on the CD and would you like to upgrade?"  Go ahead and upgrade, this should leave all of your installed programs intact.  If the beta is an upgrade, and you saved your files from windows 95, then you will need to rename the saved directory. (if you want to still be able to back up to windows 95).  the reason for this is, windows will ask you if you want to save your current settings, the directory will default to the same place that your windows 95 files are.

Good Luck,

Jeff

P.S. Be sure to save all of the stuff you dont want to lose just in case.
