I have recently aquired a Kyocera F-1200S laser printer ( pretty old!) and I'm trying to find specifications / manual for it. I've visited the Kyocera page but can find no reference to it there. Any ideas where I might find this information?

Well as you said, your printer is pretty old!... the launch date was 1990...
There is some info for you about your Kyocera F-1200S printer :
Speed: 10 ppm cut sheet
Technique: Laser electrophotographic.
Resolution: 300×300 dpi
Fonts: 79 resident bitmap fonts
Emulations: Lineprinter
Interfaces: RS-232C Centronics parallel
Memory : with no additional memory SIMMs : 512 K
You can add additional memory to your printer, how to do it :
               ( the memory SIMMs are : JetRam-01Z )
{ Each expansion board has four banks made up of two slots each. SIMMs
must be used in pairs. The two matching SIMMs (1MB of memory) are
inserted into the slots of the same bank. If SIMMs are not inserted into the
lowest numbered bank that is available, they will not work (i.e. fill the 1MB
                bank first, then the 2MB bank up to 4MB)}
                Prices of memory are about 1MB ~$90, 2MB ~$115, 4MB ~$160
If you need srivers for the printer look at this URL : http://www.kyocera.com/printers/drivers.html
If there is any more info you need, let me know.

Many thanks for the information, I hadn't realised it was so old, but at least it was VERY cheap!
Any ideas where I might obtain some more documentation for the thing

Thanks for the information it gives me a start. A couple of points -
1) any idea where I can get hold of some documentation for the printer?
2) can I increase memory by installing standard 1mb 30pin SIMMs?

1- About documentation for the printer, well as I mentioned befor, you might mail Kyocera as I mentioned on my last comment, becouse there is a chance to get old manuals from Kyocera.
2- About installing memory SIMMs, I would only use SIMMs that fit your Kyocera printer i.e. SIMM model - JetRam-01Z , and dont forget to use the SIMMs in pairs.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the circuit board and it appears to have a special memory board installed.
I have also e-mailed Kyocera as you suggested. Awaiting reply
Many thanks for the help
