gclayton,

Unreliable hardware pieces is, alas, a common thing. I'd
offer you the following algorithm to locate the origin of
the problem:

  - replace ALL hardware parts, if possible: RAM, HDD,
etc., for which diagnostics are generated. To be absolutely
sure, replace or temporary remove all the rest (I have
witnessed a case when defective CD-ROM has caused a
lot of mysterious errors)

  - reset BIOS settings to the 'safe' values (lower rate
of RAM regeneration, lower PIO for HDD, slow refresh allowed
etc) and try to achieve the same failures as before

  - install your computer's parts on other computer, to
check whether they will operate normally

  - run PC diagnostic software (CheckIt Pro, PC Check etc
to look for whatever faults there might be).

If you provide more details, I could give more advice.

  All the best,

M.B.

I tried new ram and that was the problem. I had tried some the other day but i guess I didn't have it snapped in tight, or something. Thanks for responding to my question.
