How to call a dosprogram in the background

How can I call a dosprogramm that runs in the background, no dosbox. And how can I run an other Windowsprogram modal? cheers

The accepted scale is:
  Easy question - 50 points
  Medium question - 100 points
  Hard question - 200 points

What kind of an answer you expect for 5 points?

start /m prog.exe
   
will start the prog.exe in minimized mode.  So you can exec this.

you mean "exec /m prog.exe" ?

No, I mean START, try it at the DOS prompt without parameters and it will give you instructions.  By the way, this does assume win95/98/NT.

The way in which you cause the START to happen would be with a system()
