What does CTL3DV2.DLL do, and why do I get error messages
about wrongly installed CTL3DV2.DLL in windows\system-
catalog, when the file is there?
Thanks in advance :)

I dont know exactly what this DLL does.. I do know that Visual Basic uses it sometimes.. I think it has to do with certain functions within Visual Basic (or other programs) using Graphical bars and 3d buttons.

That's not the point though, I've seen problems about an incorrectly registered ctl3dv2.dll.. how I fixed the problem was using REGEDIT and deleting keys containing the DLL..

on MY computer, somehow, it got registered on a DRIVE LETTER that doesn't exist.. (probably an old network mapping or something).. let me know if this helps

Hi jlove1!
I´m gonna try your way to solve this,
but it would help a lot if you could remember,
where you found the keys!
I tried to look in:
but I didn´t find any mentions of ctl3dv2.dll
I don't know exactly what ctl3dv2.dll does, but it is located in the root directory and some older 3rd party software tends to load a different version of it.  The file should be 27,632 bytes in size and have the date 11/30/94.  If your version is different, rename the old file and expand this file from the setup cd.
Hope this helps.
Sorry, it is not loaded in the root directory, it should be located in \windows\system and or \windows\system32.... sorry for the confusion.
