How to write russian using notepad

I installed the windows multilingual cyrillic option, but when i try to write on notepad i get stange characters.
In wordpad it works ok because it sets the cyrillic font automatically.
Can you help?

Notepad uses standard FON for display text. You need to replace
appropriate FON files to files with codepage 866 (DOS-cyrillic).
(I thing VGAOEM.FON, VGASYS.FON. Check for font "Terminal").
If I remember correctly, there was software "russificator" called
CyrWin. It has these fonts.
