what is MMX? i have an ibm aptiva, so can i like add MMX technology to my comp?

MMX is multimedia extensions. You have to have MMX technology incorporated in  your processor for it to do you any good. It's not all that much of an improvement anyway. You'll notice that nobody mentions MMX in ads for newer processors.
