Pan KX-P3264 & Win98--Printing Slow

I have a 24pin Panasonic Kx-P3264 that prints fast when I'm in a DOS application, but when I try to print using my Windows app "Timeslips" the printing is much slower.  What is the reason for this? I have tried decreasing my resolution, checking DRAFT mode, on both the application and Printer Properties; I've tried SPOOLING the data, and sending it directly to the printer; EMF/RAW; my users tell me they could print 250-300 page billings within a reasonable time, now they say it take ALL DAY...
I have it currently set to emulate a generic Epson 24 pin printer, as it is compatible; I have just downloaded the windows95 printer driver specifically for the printer.
What do I tell my users monday when I've just installed Win 98, over NT workstation, thinking that would cure it!? ACK?

If your Computers BIOS supports it make sure either ECP or EPP
Parallel port is enabled. This should speed things considerably.
In Windows while printing don't do any other work while the printer
prints. This should help.
