You could try opening up the computer and looking inside. The sound card might have a manufacturers name on it. To find the cound card just see which card the audio leads plug into. However the sound card may be built in to the motherboard, in which case that's not going to work.

if you have internet access then try compaqs internet site, they will have drivers that you can download.

If you can remember where you bought the computer from, go and see them, they will have spare disks that you should be able to have.

Failing that, ring Compaq on 0181 3323000 OR
Compaq OEM software (50p per minute) 0891 518140 OR
Compaq software support (£1.50 per minute) 0897 199595

THey should sort you out
Cheers

As a rule Compaq uses onboard audio, mostly ESS Audiodrive. Curiously the support documentation as a rule excludes the 7000 series PCs from all lists. Here's what said on Compaq support forum in the 7000 series section:

The audio drivers should be included with Win95 already. You should not need to download anything. Remove the sound card listing from the Device Manager and reboot your computer. The correct drivers should then be installed. (Make sure that in the Multimedia Icon in the Control Panel your  preferred playback device is the Es Audio Drive, and NOT TamAudio!)

If for some reason you need to download anything, (and you really should not  have to), follow these instructions...

Download SP1335.EXE from http://www.compaq.com. Save it to your HD,  and run it from there. It will create 2 diskettes.  Do not install them   remove the sound card listing from the device manager  then go into the control panel, add new hardware   do not auto-detect
choose sound, video, and game controller from list  on the next screen, choose have disk. insert disk 1 (that was made earlier) and hit ok  choose the correct ESS driver off the diskette.  the drivers will then be installed.

Additional drivers can be found at the following address.....
