Our Packard Bell computer, using 3.1, is not recognizing the CD ROM, i.e. we cannot
boot. The CD ROM was replaced and worked fine for a period of time.  Recently it has
quit booting and we are getting this message.
bad or missing C:\forte16\drives\cdmke.sys
error in config.sys line 11
device driver not found: ‘MSCD0001’.
No valid cdrom device drivers selected

The number on the top of the CD ROM inside the unit is #BPCS730011
or BPC5730011
The old CD ROM may have had a different number.  How do we get the computer,
through 3.1  to recognize this CD ROM for use? Please give answer for use with 3.1.
Please reply to dpn1460@aol.com
There is a driver because the CD ROM worked last week. We dont know how to name or find the driver or CD ROM
Thanks

Did a driver come with the new cdrom?  You will need this driver in order to make this new cdrom work.

I will be sending you the cd-rom driver files via email, simply click on the file and it will self extract, once it does run Install and it should then enable your cdrom for windows 3.1 and dos.
Good Luck

Please send Email again with download.  I deleted it by mistake. Sorry! Thanks a million! Actually the problem is not on this computer.  It is one my daughter is using. Can I still copy the info and transport it to that computer? I really dont know how this point system works, but I will give you what I have.
