Converting Lotus files to Excel

Is it possible to convert a Lotus file with extension .123 into an Excel file for use in Excel 5 or 97. I think first I need to convert the .123 file into a .wk3 Lotus file but I do not actually have the Lotus software in order to do this and I cannot find a suitable converter on the net.
