I need a basfile that will allow me to do simple TCP/IP commands, like sending data and receiving data. I don't want an OCX-file, just vb4code or a basfile.

Calling Winsock API's without the ocx control is almost impossible-most of them notify ansyncronoulsy on operation completition by sending a message to your window. In VB5, you could use AddressOf, but VB4 doesn't have that option. The only thing left to do is to use another ocx that will intercept windows messages, or using the winsock ocx
