Why is it that i cannot find MS Remote Data Control 2.0 in the Component List (Ctrl-T) ? And i can only find it in the Reference List ? I installed a MS SQL server, and also its Client Utilities. Do i need the vbsp3 ? How can i connect to SQL Database in RDO without Remote Data Control 2.0 Component to place onto the form ?

Thanks and Regards,

I don't think you are seeing Remote Data Control 2.0 in the references list. In the references list you must be seeing the Remote Data Objects 2.0.
Since you are seeing RDO 2.0 in the references list i presume you have Enterprise edition of VB5.
Sp3 is not going  to help but you should install as it has updates for lots of controls.
After Service pack (2/3) in the components list u should see
Microsoft Remote Data Control 5 (SP2).
I think you are looking for this.
You can connect to SQl server through RDO (not RD control). You jyst add a reference to Remote Data Objects in the references list and can then programatically access all of sql server (or any other ODBC compliant database.
You should have a look at the help of RDO and the related examples.
hope this is helpfu,
alok
