Okay, all my icons are on the desktop, and kind of like the arrow. Tells me they are
shortcuts.

There's one I really don't want the arrow on it.....

Simple, centralized multimedia control

Watch and learn to see how ATEN provided an easy and effective way for three jointly-owned pubs to control the 60 televisions located across their three venues utilizing the ATEN Control System, Modular Matrix Switch and HDBaseT extenders.

TweakUI from Microsoft will allow you to eliminate the arrow from shortcuts, or make it very light so it doesn't hardly show.  Otherwise, you'd have to have the icon for the .exe file on the desktop, not a shortcut to it.

Create a shortcut of the file on the desktop and then:
Right Click
Properties
Change Icon

That will leave you with just the icon... no arrow.

I Think it is imppossible :
Bet it looks better if you get rid of all the arrows in shortcuts on your desktop.
In WIN95 or WIN98 ,edit the following registry key ;
Hkey_Classes_Root\Lnkfile
Delete the value:IsShortcut
Restart your computer and you get rid of the arrows :
How yoy can find Hkey_Classe_Root\Lnkfile ;
Run : type - regedit
let windows find IsShortcut , delete the shortcut .

If I change the icon, the new icon still has the arrow!

TweakUI runs fine in Win98?
Im using Win98. But is this for all arrows?

Download a program called WinHacker...sorry...can't remember the address but search for it at yahoo. It allows u to play around with all of the hidden windows settings including shortcut icons.
I'm not sure if you can change just one though?
Why do you only want it on just ONE icon and why don't u want it at all????

There is a way but not a very good one.  First use tweakUI and remove the arrows.  Then with a Icon editor like Microangelo put in the arrows on the ones you want.  Like I said it's not a very good way:)
