how did i make selection in the grid control

Dear all expert,

how did i make selection in the grid control- when i need to select a perticular row in the grid control, then based on one of the selected field(for eg. student ID), i want to search from the database and display all the info in the form.

what grid?  If Microsoft's Grid then

grid1.row = 5
grid1.col = 3
msgbox grid1.text
