When Outlook 98 is started, there is a long pause with the splash screen showing that lasts about 60 seconds. No clicking or keyboard strokes help. Is this suppose to happen?

No, but do you have it automatically checking your mail?  If you do, it is loading the TCP-IP files and other communications components... ON my PII 300, it lasts about 30 seconds... Just disable auto-check email every x minutes and it loads much faster... But, you will have to wait for it to load all that stuff when you want to check your email...

This seems to have helped by increasing the time period that the e-mail is checked. Being on a kilostream link, I had the e-mail checking every 2 minutes.

Thanks
