AWE64 problems

i recently got an awe64 soundblaster. i have installed the card and there are no conflicts and there is also no sound. i have checked the cables and they are connected correctly. i have removed all the software and drivers thinking i have instlled them improperly, but plug and play puts the same ones back in. now, i put the old sound card back in and it started playing sound, so i put the new card an i cant hear crap. so, anyone out there have a suggestion on how to fix this problem. my system is a amdk6 233mx, if that make a diff. i have also noticed that the little sound icon in the systems tray is not the with the awe32 but is with the old,
any suggestion greately appreciated,

Have you got DirectX 5 installed??
And what operatingsystem are you using??
Try the link below and download the newest drivers for you card, it was released on 7/1/98 this may or may not help you but it is easy to try it.  The file you want is sbw95up.exe for sb16 - 64 including awe cards.

Good Luck
What resources are being used by the AWE64?

What model is the old sound card?
