There should be a cheaper way to solve the problem than buying the full version: try to install Win98 without first installing Win95. During installing you will be asked to insert Win95, but I didn't try this myself.<br />

I've formatted my HD, worked fine.<br />
I've installed a fresh copy of Win95; worked fine.<br />
Then installed Win98 upgrade. &nbsp;75% into the upgrade, system halts with &quot;Windows registry error in System.DAT.<br />
