COAST = Cache On A STick

If you have a motherboard (usually older boards) with a short (usually brown) slot, this could be for a COAST module. Basically, its motherboard cahe thats mounted on its own little cirsuit board. This board then fits into this brown slot and you've upgraded you motherboard (usually from 256k to 512k cache).

My honest opinion is DO NOT INSTALL COAST. Timings along the bus are extremely critical and the extra track length involved when you install a COAST module can lead to problems (mostly crashing for no reason).

It wont make your PC run appreciably quicker and the only reason you should ever consider it is if you need more cache RAM to support main system RAM.
