Try Bruce Eckel's Thinking in C++. It's available from his web site at:
  http://www.bruceeckel.com

I think it's an HTML book. His Thinking in Java is also available in electronic form at the same site. Both are very readable books. If you like them enough, you can always buy the printed form.
