what is aspienum.vxd and why do i need it to run some software?

It is Adaptec scsi programing interface hence apsi, it is pertaining to an adaptec scsi card for scanner or cdrom burner etc.  You need this driver because of the scsi hardware you have installed in your computer and without it you would lose the hardware support that this driver provides you.
