Can I use Java to access Local InterBase Server (come with Delphi 4 Professional) through JDBC in the same machine ? If yes, where can I get the driver ?

this is from a thread I was following a while ago as I had the same problem, I have not tried this as I have been pulled off this project and put on another(for urgent reasons)...

well here it is

Well, you can use JDBC-ODBC bridge if you are writing an application but no it's generally not recommended for applets because it's not cross platformand I believe that it makes native calls hence causing security violations.
 Maybe it'll fix your problem if you want an jdbc-odbc solution.
                            ---------------------------------------------------------
                           change your driver to the following.
                                com.ms.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
                            -----------------------------------------------------------

Is the Java applet/application use the JDBC-ODBC can only run on Win32 machine ?

As far as I know, it will run fine on 16bit and 32bit based systems, just need to make sure that the correct drivers are loaded...
