Can i create and compile exe files with visual basic and freely sell and distribute the programs as products like you can with other C compilers? If not , are there royalties involved or how does that work?
Unlike C exe programs that run with no other support files , I have been told that depending on my the developed application, I may need to have the end user install certain support files, like OCX's, for the program to run on other machines. How difficult is it to do this in a saleable product?

THank you for your help

Applications written strictly with VB can be freely distributed with no royalties.  If you use any third-party controls, there may be royalties required but these are few and far between.  Check with the companies that produced the individual controls for their licensing policy.
To reiterate, if you use just the controls that come with VB, there is no royalties involved.

To create a setup program for your VB app, you can use the setup wizard that comes with VB which will automatically decide which OCXs and DLLs are required and install them on the user's machine.  You could also get a third-party install creator such as InstallShield Express 2.
