I am using FP98. I am facing the following problems:
1) If I apply a theme FP98 makes upto two levels of directories. I want it to make only a single level of directory because tripod only allows that. If that is not possible then is there any workaround (I cannot change HTML myself, so another way please)
2) Is there any site that gives free homepages and has FP Server Extensions.

FP98 will always use directories when you apply a theme. There is no way you can avoid this.
For free webspace on a server that alows multiple directories, checkout http://www.geocities.com/
I'm not sure if they provide support for "FP Server Extensions". BUT .. IT's free so ... Just try it out..

I knew this before i.e., FP creates folders and geocities gives free home pages. But what I want is a free home page provider which supports FP server extensions.

I am an avid FP user and instructor. FP requires the folders because that's where the extensions are going to look for the specific objects. There's no way around that in an FP web unless you're going to convince a web host to modify the server extensions for you (not really possible)...

You can use FP Editor as a WYSIWYG HTML Editor, sans FP components and site management, but that doesn't sound like what you want to do...

Before signing up with my current host, I checked out 200+ web hosts. I don't think you're going to find any free sites offering extensions because to support extensions, the host must install FP extensions in your domain. This takes 2+ mb space. You can imagine the server requirements, especially if everyone who wanted to have a free website wanted FP included!

I do know of a few that are inexpensive. You might check out http://www.powersurge.net/ They offer 35mb space (the cyberspace equivalent of TEXAS), FP extensions, etc., etc. for $10/month.

I know these aren't the answers you wanted, but I'm afraid they're reality.

BTW, what is tripod??? FTP utility?

Thanks for your really frank answers. I am ready to pay for it
but the problem is that India (where I am settled) does not allow
any transfer of money that is in dollars. We are not allowed to
keep Credit Cards which allow spending in dollars. Also tripod
is a service that allows free Home Pages

Can you explain me why you've accepted the answer ckayter gave. It contains the same story that I've told you ..

BTW ... some additional information for you ..
To find a provider/host that supports Frontpage Server Extensions, you'll just have to visit the folowing site.
http://microsoft.saltmine.com/frontpage/wpp/list/
You'll see a link to the international list on the left ..

AND .. Next time you offer points to someone ... Take a good look at who you've rejected already.

I know I did something wrong while giving ckayter points. I could not figure out a way to give you the points though. If you have a way I will give you 30 points.

dr00py,

Sometimes, providing the reasons why something works a certain way helps us accept an answer we don't want to hear.

BTW, the Microsoft list, I've been there, done that. Every one that I checked was a web hosting service. They don't give it away. Once again, the FP extensions take approximately the entire amount of space most free web pages are allotted.
