Quick and dirty method is to use SHELL command to fire NDIR command with output redirected to a file. This will give you a plain ASCII file that you can scan for info as required:

Syntax will be similar to:

SHELL ("NDIR /SPA /C > ASCII.TXT", 1)
.
OPEN "ASCII.TXT" FOR INPUT AS #1
    DO WHILE NOT EOF(1)
    LINE INPUT #1, TEXT$
IF INSTR(TEXT$, "what you're looking for") then
     ...
    ENDIF
    ...
    LOOP
'
CLOSE #1

I'm sure that there's an API or process that you could use, but this method works well and can be generalized to work with most any type of command or OS. If you were on NT then the difference would be that NDIR... would be NET... and the search string in the INSTR would be different.

You could also use a variable for the server/volume name in the above if you needed to poll several serves/volumes.
