Download complete lie

I have zip files that can be downloaded by visitors to my site. Occasionally the file will be partially downloaded with the 'Download complete' message. This is not correct. Any ideas? Is the server at fault? is there anything I can do.

The problem could be at your end, their end, your ISP or anywhere in between.  Sometimes the browser thinks it's done when the connections lost.  If it's an intermittent (random) fault then there's not much you can do to fix the problem per-se, but you can offer a work round.

For a large download I recommend using software which can resume where you left off.  Try Download Butler by Lincoln Beach Software which will let you resume failed downloads, and includes plenty of other cool features.  The URL is

The problem is not mine, rather it is the 'downloader' of my files. How does the software you mention work, is it on my server or theirs etc.
