Hi. installed 98 with no problem. for reasons i wont go into, I uninstalled. When I reinstalled setup stopped at one point in some "safe recovery' screen. it just said it encountered some problem and just hit ok to continue installing from where it left off. no problem and everything seems to be ok. what do you think?
thanks

HI,

Microsoft has a doc about this:

Reinstalling Windows 98 Causes Safe Recovery Error Message
Last reviewed: June 23, 1998
Article ID: Q186738

The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Windows 98

SYMPTOMS
If you upgrade a Microsoft Windows 95-based computer running Internet Explorer version 4.0 or 4.01 to Windows 98, uninstall Windows 98, and then reinstall Windows 98, you may receive the following error message:

   Safe Recovery

Setup encountered a problem or did not complete a previous
installation. If you click Use Safe Recovery, Setup will restart file
   copying where it left off.

Not selecting Safe Recovery will restart the file copy process from the
   beginning.

You are then prompted to choose either Use Safe Recovery or Do Not Use Safe Recovery.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue and continue the Windows 98 Setup program, choose either Use Safe Recovery or Do Not Use Safe Recovery.

STATUS
The Safe Recovery error message under these conditions does not indicate a problem, it does not affect the functionality of the Setup program, and it can be safely ignored.
