I have an AMD 100 with 16 Megs of Ram and 1.5 Gig. HD. I am Tring to reload win95 from scratch and on this newly foratted HD and it starts and gives me a General Protection Fault. I do know that this system had a power surge go through it. Is it possible that the Ram got messed up somehow?

Yes it is possible !  But it is also possible that your motherboard could be the problem.
