If the &quot;flashing&quot; you refer to is a successive pulse when the power is applied to the monitor, even if the computer is disconnected, I think you'll need service.<br />
Many times such symptoms indicate internal power supply trouble.<br />

if you're running windows95, try going into display properties and settings and see if you are able to change the refresh rate. your monitor may be running at the same frequency (refresh rate) as overhead lighting, etc. contact the monitor's manufacturer or website for instructions on changing the refresh rate if not readily available. good luck.<br />
