To set the look and feel for an application to metal, use:

UIManager.setLookAndFeel( "com.sun.java.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel" );

Unfortunately, this will not effect JFrame's. Frames will always get the "native" look and feel because they are implemented as native peers. The closest you can get is to create a JInternalFrame. The internal frame will have the specified L&F
