CD-ROM plays audio only
A friend of mine has a problem. The only CDs her CD-ROM drive will play are audio CD's. It does not recognize data CDs at all. I know nothing about the system except that it uses Windows 95. Any help would be appreciated. It will be at least 2 days for any response to an answer as I won't see her until tomorrow to pass along any suggestions.
u may need an updated driver.remove the cd driver from the multi
meadia and go to add new hardware in the control panel.choose no
on the search for hardware and then go to cd-rom find the brand
model and the times.if its not there and the rom is old
you have to find a dos driver on the net or somthing.COOL

No error messages that she told me about. Douche, I will pass along your suggestion and get back in a few days.

I will leave this posted for awhile so everyone can see. It turned out to be a virus that was causing the problem. She wasn't sure what but apparently it can be picked up by a current virus detector. I will leave this posted for awhile and then delete it. Hope this can help someone else if they come up with the same error.

Does the CD drive show at all in W95? In DOS? Any error messages?
